Nanjing Will Start the First Dose of COVID-19 Vaccination for People Aged 12-17 Soon
On August 14, the Information Office of Nanjing Municipal People's Government held the 25th Nanjing COVID-19 Prevention and Control Press Conference to update the latest situation of COVID-19 prevention and control.
Nanjing will start the first dose of COVID-19 vaccination for people aged 12-17 soon
Nanjing's vaccination sites at all levels (except those in Jiangning District) began to resume COVID-19 vaccine inoculation from August 1st. As of August 13th, 661,000 people have been vaccinated. Ding Jie, deputy director of Nanjing Center for Disease Control and Prevention, said that Nanjing disease control departments will do the following inoculation work in order for the days to come:
1. Carry out the second dose of vaccination in an orderly manner for people who have already received the first dose.
2. Continue the first dose of vaccination for people over 18.
3. Start the first dose of vaccination for people aged 12-17.
Now the vaccination work is being carried out in Nanjing in order. Affected by factors such as mass nucleic acid testing and management and control measures in high and medium-risk areas, districts including Qixia, Pukou and Gaochun as well as Jiangbei New Area have restarted the first dose of vaccination for people over 18; other districts are carrying out the second dose of vaccination for those who have received the first one. In order to push forward the vaccination work in an orderly manner, the city adopts the method of appointment in corresponding district. Collective units can contact the leading group office for COVID-19 vaccination in the district to make an appointment, and individuals can make phone-call or on-site appointments. For specific vaccination arrangements, please follow the announcements in each district or consult the leading group office for COVID-19 vaccination in the district.

Nanjing Disease Control: If the second shot of vaccine is not given within 8 weeks after the first one, the protection effect will not be affected as long as the second shot is then administered
Ding Jie, deputy director of Nanjing Center for Disease Control and Prevention, introduced the status quo of Nanjing’s COVID-19 vaccination. In response to some citizens reporting that the second dose have not been administered as scheduled, Ding Jie explained that according to the state-issued Technical Guidelines for COVID-19 Vaccination, the second dose should be administered within 8 weeks. If the second dose of vaccination is not completed within 8 weeks due to special reasons, one just need to catch up on the second dose. There is no need to restart the whole vaccination process. As long as the two doses of vaccination are completed, the protective efficacy of the vaccine will not be affected, nor will it have any adverse effect on the body.
Children's vaccination clinics in low-risk areas in Jiangning District, Nanjing opens today
Regarding the arrangement of child vaccination that are of concern to the public, Ding Jie, deputy director of Nanjing Center for Disease Control and Prevention, said on the spot that most vaccination clinics for children in the city have been opened normally, and such clinics in low-risk areas in Jiangning District will also be open from today. Relevant clinics will promptly notify parents and arrange vaccination according to the vaccination plan.
She also reminded citizens to get vaccinated at the appointed time, wear masks throughout the process, maintain a "one-meter" distance, and line up in an orderly manner. Each vaccination point should also implement personal protective measures for its staff, strengthen health inquiries and monitoring, and conduct on-site management and environmental disinfection and cleaning according to the requirements.
