Smart Solar Lighting System in Kuwait City


Summary

ALB company provided full set of intelligent energy-saving street lighting solutions for new commercial districts in Kuwait City, Kuwait. The smart solar lighting projects spared Kuwait City the high cost of electricity infrastructure construction, providing uninterrupted green energy for night lighting. 


Application

ALB, a new energy company located in Nanjing, provided solar road lightning solutions for Kuwait City. The company has done similar projects in cities in Africa and Southeast Asia. 


Evaluation

The project is highly welcomed among local residents as it provides them with uninterrupted light so that they can walk safely at night. The project also received recognition from the local government as it is in alignment with the city’s policy of building a green smart city.


Case Introduction

ALB company provided a complete set of solar intelligent lighting solutions and 450 sets of solar intelligent street lights products. The project solves the problem of high cost of power supply and can reduce electricity consumption compared to conventional street lights.


During the day, the solar panel converts the light energy into DC power by absorbing the sun light, and the DC power charges the lithium battery. At night, the battery supplies power to the LED light source. Kuwait has plenty of sunshine, but as the temperature is very high, the voltage of solar panel is likely to drop, so in the configuration design, the capacity of solar panel is increased to ensure that the battery can be fully charged in about 3 hours during the day.


The company provided a series of 10W ~ 50W light source products considering the needs of different locations and different application scenarios. The light control system will automatically induce the LED lamp cap to light up after the sunset. Considering the high lighting requirements in the first half of the night, the whole control system uses the full lighting mode in the first four hours into night, and in the second half of the night it will do intelligent light control according to the flow of people. With the intelligent control, the battery has enough power to support lighting even when there are rainy days.
