On September 24, Nanjing OP Autism Social Work Center held a video conference with the people in charge of Muginoko, a welfare facility in Hokkaido, and Wakayama Prefecture Mental Health and Welfare Center in Japan. Experts from China and Japan had an in-depth online discussion on how to improve the treatment level of autistic children. Officials from Nanjing Municipal Foreign Affairs Office, Yuhuatai District Disabled Person’s Federation in Nanjing, and related officials from Consulate General of Japan in Shanghai attended the conference.

In May this year, officials from Nanjing Municipal Foreign Affairs Office visited the rehabilitation facilities for autistic children in Yuhuatai District, and learned that institutions within this district including Nanjing OP Autism Social Work Center are interested in conducting exchanges and cooperation with their overseas counterparts in sharing advanced experiences in order to improve their own treatment and management level. As Japan features an early start and rich experiences in the treatment of autistic children, with the assistance of the Consulate General of Japan in Shanghai and efforts from both sides, this video conference was successfully held, bridging the two sides through bringing our own resources and advantages into full play.
