Tuamassina is located on the coast of the Indian Ocean in the east of Madagascar. It is the capital of Tuamassina province and an important seaport of the country. With a population of about 270,000, it is a dynamic coastal city. At present, more than 50% of Madagascar's import and export trade is completed in Tuamasina. There are also large oil refining, cement and pulp mills, meat processing, shipbuilding, sugar and other industries.
