Havirov is located in the northeastern part of the Czech Republic, 10 kilometers southeast of Ostrava — the third largest city in the Czech Republic. It has a population of 91,000. The city has become a satellite city southeast of Ostrava since 1955, and is an important manufacturing center and mining city.
